Werkling Community FAQs
We’re homebase for a certain kinda someone.
Werkling’s a proud and loud supporter for On-Demand Talent in Australia and New Zealand, and…
…in the Werkling Community, we’re supporting On-Demand Talent to come together in the same place.
Everything (or close to!) you need to know has been asked and answered in the questions below.
If there is somone missing, drop us a note on Slack!
Rightio, back to those questions…
What's included in the Werkling Community membership?
As a member of the Werkling Community you get access to our Slack workspace, our schedule of monthly virtual events, in-person get-togethers, discounts with partners and market snapshots in our monthly newsletters.
The best part is that when you’re a part of the Werkling Community you’ll share a space with some of the most incredible and insanely talented humans working as On-Demand Talent.
Does everyone in the Werkling Community work across People, Change or Comms?
Mostly, yes. But we do have some absolute legends who work in other professional fields and they’re an important part of the Werkling Community.
Can I invite others to join the Werkling Community?
You sure can. Talented people know talented people. To refer someone to the Werkling Community, just make sure you can answer a big old ‘Yes” to these three questions.
1. Have you worked with them closely before?
2. Are you itching to work with them again?
3. Can you put your professional name to them?
If so, refer away! You can refer talent by completing the Referral Form and providing them with your customer referral link which are both found in your Account Settings on the platform.
I’ve heard you can get matched to gigs in the Werkling Community, is that right?
Yes (and no).
It’s important to note and by suuuuper clear on what the Werkling Community is about and for.
The Werkling Community is a place and space that supports individuals working as On-Demand Talent — each member has a strong focus on connecting and contributing to the community.
You’re heard right, Werkling does receive Gig Briefs from Leaders and handpick the right-fit On-Demand Talent from our Werkling Community.
To be really clear, up front, and to establish really real expectations (with the kindest of kindness), not everyone will be matched to a gig.
When On-Demand Talent join the Werkling Community it’s because they’re looking for a place where they can connect with like-hearted humans who have moved out of in-house roles and are navigating gig life.
So (hypothetically) when there is a gig, what happens?
Werkling is different to those ‘job board’ style platforms out there. On those platforms, gigs are posted and On-Demand Talent are in an application frenzy, which results in a lot of people (both talent and leaders!) investing a lot of time.
Over here, we know that time is precious and Leaders just want to know who the best possible person is for the gig. Werkling Community members are matched to gigs based on their talent profile, their gig library, their referral strength, their past gig performance and their community contribution.
Werkling typically sends 1-3 right-fit talent profiles to a Leader who has briefed a gig.
You can learn more about the process here.
Can Werklings team up on gigs?
Definitely. We have had some great examples of WerkTeams (Werklings working in teams) who have delivered some exceptional outcomes. WerkTeams come about in a few different ways:
- Sometimes a Leader briefs a gig into Werkling that is just too big for one person OR it needs multiple skillsets OR the matched On-Demand Talent doesn’t have quite enough capacity to take it on alone.
- Sometimes a Community member asks us to match them to another Werkling to collaborate on a project. We are happy to match but a teeny matching fee ($99+gst) will apply.
- Sometimes a Community Member puts a call out on Slack to find someone to collaborate with… and this is totally A-OK (we just won’t do the matching).
Do you ask Leaders for feedback on gigs?
Yes, we do.
We typically check in once the gig has kicked off and then, at the end of the engagement, will send the Leader (and you!) a Gig Review Form. We ask the Leader if they are ok with us sharing the feedback with you and as long as they give us the ok, we will pass it on.
